Officeworks has made a recent acquisition, purchasing the Sydney-based PC repair and tech support company, Geeks2U.
Geeks2U is a tech support company, providing PC repairs in Perth and across Australia, as well as hardware and software solutions, including wireless and wired networking services, among other tech support solutions, both for PCs and for Macs.
Officeworks Managing Director Sarah Hunter shed some light on the acquisition, saying that it was part of the company’s plan to expand their service offerings in order to meet their customers’ needs, as well as expand their current offerings, wherein businesses pay a monthly fee in exchange for access to technicians that offer support, cloud storage, as well as hardware work.
Hunter says that Officeworks chose Geeks2U since it’s an already establish name, known for handling PC repairs in Perth and across Australia, providing quality customer service, which is something they believe is the best for Officeworks. She says that that is what the company’s about; providing great services to customers in order to help them move along with their lives.
She says that Geeks2U’s offerings compliment what Officeworks currently offers, and will go a long way to helping their customers tech problems in both their homes and their businesses. Hunter states that, by working together the two companies can offer even more comprehensive solutions for their customers’ technology needs.
Part of the deal will have the company operate as they do currently, with founders David and Michael Hancock remaining in their leadership positions.
David issued a statement on the transaction, saying that they’re excited to work with Officeworks, which will provide Geeks2U with support and reach that a 25 year business can provide. He notes that Geeks2U will become part of Officeworks’ services offerings, but they’ll still continue to provide the service that they’re known for to all their customers, regardless of where they acquired their IT equipment.
Officeworks has been busy, having resumed selling NBN services via their “Accord with Officeworks” branding in December of 2018. Prior to that, the company also got into an agreement with CSG for the offering of a device-as-service for 2016.
